TUS Athlone will play host to three exhilarating days of athletics competition as athletes go in search of national glory at the 123.ie Juvenile Indoor Championships which take place across March 25th, April 1st, and April 2nd.
All three days will be streamed live on the Athletics Ireland Youtube channel.
The 4x200m relays will headline the track action on day 1 (March 25th) with a bumper entry set to take to the start line across the even and uneven age categories.
Katie Doherty will lead out a strong Ratoath entry in the U17 and U18 relays which follow a busy morning schedule that includes relays from U12 right up to U19.
Ratoath enjoyed a superb national junior championships last month, with the Meath club claiming both the men’s and women’s junior relay titles which is testament to the great work being done to promote the event.
Competition in the field events will get this Saturday’s championships underway from 10am with action-a-plenty in the shot put and triple jump.
Cian Crampton (Edenderry AC) will be right in contention in the boy’s U17 shot put competition, while Liam Shaw (Athenry AC) will look to back up last month’s junior title in the U19 category from 1.30pm.
Caoimhe Gallen (Lifford Strabane AC) should go well in the girl’s U17 shot put, while Kotryna Pacerinskaite (Fanahan Mc Sweeney AC) is another who will be looking to follow up last month’s junior title in the U19 event.
The girl’s U18 triple jump competition should be closely contested and is sure to provide ample drama for those in attendance on Saturday.
Molly Mullally (Dundrum South Dublin AC) looks one of the likely favourites in the U19 category following her second-place finish with a best of 11.13m at the junior indoors last month.
Daniel Quirk (Greystones and District AC) posted a best of 12.64 last month and looks very much the one to beat in the U18 triple jump competition which starts at 11am.
