Excitement and emotion reached a fevered-pitch on Day Two of Istanbul 2023, with more medals being won and records being broken.
In a wonderful moment, the home crowd went wild thanks to Turkey’s Tugba Danismaz. Winning a triumphant gold in the women’s triple final. It was a moment full of emotion that brought the crowd to their feet.
Femke Bol proved yet again that she is one of the greatest athletes on the planet, retaining her women’s indoor 400m title with another sub-50 second performance.
Norway’s Karsten Warholm overcame a strong field to win the men’s 400m gold, regaining the same title he won at Glasgow 2019.
There was an Italian 1-2 in the men’s 60m final. Samuele Ceccarelli defeated Olympic 100m Champion Marcell Jacobs by a very slim margin. Nevertheless, it was a strong showing for Italy.
And Laura Muir won her third European indoor gold in the women’s 1500m, adding to her gold medals from Belgrade 2017 and Glasgow 2019.
