World Record attempt at Hershey Canadian Indoor Championships

Athletics Canada announced last week that a World Record attempt will take place for the 600m, at the Hershey Canadian Indoor Championships in Montreal, Quebec.

The Championships take place on the 20-22nd February, and so far confirmed competitors are Dai Greene (GB & N.I.), Luguelin Santos (Dominican Republic), Eroll Nolan (Jamaica/USA) and Rafith Rodriguez Lleneres (Columbia).

Currently, the indoor 600 metre World Record is 1:15:12 seconds, set in 1999 by German athlete Nico Motchebon.

Main competition for Dai Greene will be the Dominican Republic athlete Luguelin Santos, who took silver in the 400m at the 2012 Olympic Games, as well as a bronze at the 2013 World Championships.

There is also one place on the start list that will be reserved for the highest ranked CIS 600m athlete as of the 16th February. Said athlete will be flown in from anywhere in Canada in order to take part in the Championships.

The 600m takes place on the 21st February at the Complexe Sportif Claude-Robillard and admission to the event is totally free.
