The reigning Olympic 5000m champion, Joshua CHEPTEGEI, will start the 10km race, organised as part of the Cannes Semi, on 6 March.
Looking for a race to launch his 2022 season, the Ugandan has called on The Bellou Company (TBC) to offer him a high-performance event.
Remy Charpentier for TBC: “When Joshua asked us to find him the best possible 10km race in this period, we did not hesitate. Indeed, its fast course, its expert organisation and the climate of the French Riviera make Cannes the best option.
Joshua Cheptegei: “I am happy to return to the French Riviera to start off my 2022 season. It’s been two and a half years since the last time I run 10km on the road so will be exciting to see where I am at the moment.”
Paul Longoni, President of AC Cannes: “It’s a huge honour to welcome Joshua Cheptegei, a talented athlete, to our event and he has chosen our 10K for his next race. It is of course an additional pressure for the organisation to have an athlete who has already broken the world record at the start, because the race settings must be perfect, and everything will be done to achieve this.
Our flat course is a great place to perform, and all the runners will be able to admire Joshua’s stride. This is a unique gift for the participants of the “Semi de Cannes”, who will enjoy meeting an exceptional athlete on the course, and will cheer him on to a world-class performance.”
