Olympians Brett Morse and Charlotte Wingfield and Paralympian Aled Davies are some of the stand out names set to feature at the Welsh Athletics International in Swansea this Wednesday 25th July.

The event will see a team from Wales go up against counterparts from Scotland, Northern Ireland, England South, England North, England Midlands and Welsh Schools.

Track and field action will be streamed live around the world from 1630 BST on this page of runjumpthrow.com, with viewers in North America needing to head to RunnerSpace.com.

The Swansea University Athletics Stadium will play host to a number of exciting battles between nations, with some high quality guest athletes adding to the competition.

Aled Davies (above) has two Paralympic gold medals and six world titles across the shot put and discus events, while Welsh discus record holder Brett Morse has competed in all four major international tournaments, with a best of fifth place at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

On the women’s side, Cardiff-based sprinter Charlotte Wingfield is the Maltese national record holder over both 100m and 200m. She’ll compete over the shorter distance in Swansea, while her Cardiff Metropolitan University team mate Adele Nicoll competes in the shot put having won seven British Universities’ (BUCS) medals since the start of the 2016 season.

Fellow Commonwealth Games representative and last year’s British silver medalist Rebecca Chapman goes in the long jump, where she has a lifetime best of 6.54m and a season’s best of 6.30m.

That could be a close event to follow as English Schools champion Josie Olarnyk has made huge improvements to 6.38m in 2018, in what is turning out to be a fabulous year for British women in that discipline.

This stage provides a great opportunity for some wonderful young talents like Olarnyk who have earned their selection for this international. Katy-Ann McDonald – back from Finland where she was a finalist at the IAAF World U20 Championships – will be a big hope for England South in the 800m having improved her fastest time to 2:03.20.

That followed up an impressive 2:04 at the British Milers’ Club Grand Prix in Loughborough, where she finished second behind European senior bronze medalist Lovisa Lindh in the Women’s A Race (above).

Another of Great Britain’s Tampere squad, Abby Ward, will turn out for England North, alongside the likes of Midland Counties champion Hannah Tapley. That’s not the only recent competition to see young talent compete for GB abroad. Scotland have selected Kane Elliott who won the European U18 title in Hungary over 1500m.
\
A semi-finalist there, Hannah Foster, produced a wonderful display to win the 400m at the England under-20 championships in 54.98s (below). She’s since gone on to take victory at the English Schools’ Championships in Birmingham earlier this month.

Also talented over one lap; Welsh 400m champion Lauren Williams has improved her personal best by nearly two and a half seconds in two years.
\
The Swansea athlete will race over the 400m hurdles. Williams was another who took England-under 20 gold in Bedford, running 59.21, which again was her fastest ever clocking.
\
Meanwhile, both men’s and women’s England under-20 champions will feature in the javelin in the shape of British senior bronze medalist Bethan Rees, and Daniel Bainbridge, who was involved in the European Throwing Cup in Portugal.
