Sale Harriers Open Meeting, Manchester, UK, 30 November 2014

At just 17 years of age Adam Hague (The Dearne ALC) – coached by Sheffield based Trevor Fox – set a new personal best of 5.41m to set a new U20 British indoor record (previous best 5.35m). Hague now moves into 2nd on the U20 all-time list behind Neil Winter’s 5.50m and 15th across all age groups. On the day, the competition was won by Hague’s training partner and British record hold Luke Cutts (The Dearne ALC/City of Sheffield) with 5.41m, who won on count back.

Hague also ran in the 60m to set a new PB of 7.36.

Elsewhere Niall Brooks (Sale Harriers), who competed for England in the 2010 Commonwealth Games, continued his return from injury with a time of 1:21:40 in the 600m. 

European Cross Country Championships, Liverpool, UK, 29 November 2014

Charnwood’s Gemma Steel stamped her authority on the field to dominate the senior women’s race to win in 26:58 ahead of Lily Partridge of Aldershot (2nd) and Elle Vernon of Stockport (3rd) who both recorded times of 27:20.

In the same race, Emelia Gorecka (Aldershot) took the U23 title in 27:09 with Rhona Auckland (Banchory Stonehaven) 27:12.

Jessica Judd (Chelmsford) blew the field away to claim victory in 14:45.

As with the women, the men’s senior and U23 races were held together with a sprint finish seeing U23 Callum Hawkins (Kilbarchan) pip senior athlete Andrew Butchart (Central AC) as they both finished with 29:26.

Self Transcendence 10k, Battersea Park, London, UK, 29 November 2014

Scott Overall (Blackheath & Bromley) took victory by almost a minute, winning in 30:03.

Seeley Cup 10k, Belfast, UK, 29 November 2014

Paul Pollock (Kent AC) took the Northern Ireland 10k Championship with time of a 30:15 whilst Kerry O’Flaherty (Windsor, Slough, Eton and Hounslow) took the women’s crown in 34:41.
