Kate Avery (Iona College) bettered her 3rd place finish from 2013 by repeating her front running tactics to take victory in the 6km with 19:31.6, the first British woman to win the event since 1989.
In an interview with Flotrack after the event Avery said “It hasn’t sunk in, I was just running scared… I knew if I wanted to have a good chance of winning I was going to have to run it hard. I didn’t want to leave it up to a sprint finish.”
The second Brit past the post was Alice Wright with 20:29.1 (20th).
The first male British athlete in the men’s 10km event was Marc Scott (Tulsa Univeristy/Richmond & Zetland) who finished 14th in 30:38.6.
British & Irish Masters Cross Country Championships, Wollaton Park, Nottingham, UK – 22 November 2014
Ben Reynolds (Thames Hare & Hounds) led home an England 1-2-3-5 as England took overall victory in the men’s 50-54 age group with a time of 26:30.
Louise Rudd (Stockport) was the clear winner in the women’s 35-39 age group with 21:24, beating Lisa Palmer (Derby) by 12 seconds.
IAU World 100km Championships, Doha, QAT – 21 November 2014
Ellie Greenwood (unattached) was crowned as the World 100km champion with an emphatic victory, completing the event in 7:30.44 ahead of Japan’s Chiyuki Mochizuki who finished in 7:38.23.
Paul Giblin (Allithwaite) was the first British male past the post, finishing in 11th with 6:56.12.

Scott Overall (Blackheath & Bromley) finished 7th with 30:28 in the men’s cross country race.
Jesscia Andrews (Aldershot Farnham & District) finished 25th in the women’s road race with a time of 34:17.
Knole Run, Sevenoaks, UK – 21 November 2014
James Kingston (Judd) won the boys 3km event in 12:38, but in 6th place was Romeo Beckham with 13:05 – watched by his father David.
Alexandra Millard (St Edmunds) won the girls 2km event in 9:58.
