15-year-old Dominic Ogbechie was undoubtedly the star of the show in Sheffield this weekend. The Highgate athlete wowed those watching the England Athletics Age Group Indoor Championships with a spectacular 2.22m clearance – a world age best in the high jump.

It was thrilling to watch him clear each height at the first time of asking, rising up the all-time rankings and breaking records each time. After securing the title, the teenager cleared 1.95m, 2.00m, 2.06m, 2.11m, 2.14m, 2.18m and finally an incredible 2.22m shown below.

Ogbechie doubled his gold medal tally on Sunday with a UK under-17 indoor long jump record of 7.53m. He wasn’t the only one in black and white striples to stand on the top step of the podium twice. Shaftesbury Barnet’s Remi Jokosenumi impressed with an under-15 boys sprint double.

Incredible pace was shown too by Charlie Dobson (below) – who ran 21.02s for 200m – the fastest British junior indoors for a decade. Ahead of competing for Ireland at the IAAF World Indoor Championship this week, Ciara Neville also looked impressive in taking the under-20 women’s 60m title, stopping the clock on 7.41s.

In the under-20 800m, just as expected, Isabelle Boffey won her age group indoor race for the fourth year in a row. Ruby Simpson followed in her sister Tilly’s footsteps by winning the under-15 four lap competition, and there was a similar story for the Knight family with Daniel and Emily winning sprint hurdles gold in the under-17 and under-15 competitions respectively.

Elsewhere, Jazz Sears broke the under-17 British record in the triple jump with an effort of 12.34m. One of the closer field events was the under-20 women’s long jump competition won by Holly Mills of Andover with her last jump. Prior to that, she and Eleanor Broome had both maanged 6.15m, with Lucy Hadaway two centimetres back at 6.13m. Watch to find out what happened in the dying seconds.

That exciting finale meant that Mills and Hadaway finished in the same positions as they had done competing for England at the Commonwealth Youth Games in the Bahamas last year.

Last but not least, 17-year-old British Indoor champion Molly Caudery is having some month. The teenager, who is heading to the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games this spring followed up the senior title in Birmingham with a 4.20m vault in Sheffield, before going on to clear 4.30m for a personal best n Glasgow the following day!
