Multiple world and Olympic champion Usain Bolt is set to star in his own feature-length documentary ahead of the Rio Olympics next Summer.
The documentary, headed by directors Gabe and Ben Turner, will begin following Bolt from May this year in his preparations for the Olympic Games. Not only will it look at how his training pans out but will also cover his illustrious career.
The directors of the film have plenty of experience in the field of sport stars, directing the 2013 film ‘Class of ’92’ among others.
Speaking to The Guardian, Gabe said “Ben and I had a real interest in looking at the life of an athlete competing in an individual sport,”.
“When the opportunity arose to do so with the greatest athlete of all time, we leapt at the chance.”
It is not the first documentary that Bolt has been involved with. In 2012 ‘Usain Bolt: The Fastest Man Alive’ was released prior to the London Olympic Games, however was not set for theatrical release.
“I’m excited to start work on this project,” Bolt said to The Guardian. “When I met Gabe and Ben and heard about their previous work I felt they would be the right people to tell my story and capture my journey to Rio 2016. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”
There is no doubt that Bolt won’t be camera shy with his pre-race showmanship he has demonstrated over the years.
With Bolt’s retirement set for 2017 it will be a fitting end to his career in which he won six Olympic golds and eight World Championship golds alongside setting numerous world records.
