Usain Bolt confirms August racing schedule

Jamaican sprint legend, Usain Bolt, has confirmed his race schedule post-Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

Bolt had a delayed start to his 2014 outdoor season following foot surgery and a hamstring injury which caused him to miss nine weeks-worth of training and, as a result, will only compete in the 4x100m relay in Glasgow.

The 27-year-old has three further meets pencilled into his racing diary for August, the first of which being a unique 100m race along Copacabana beach, Rio de Janeiro, on a purpose-built track.

Bolt raced at the iconic venue in March, 2013, where he stormed to victory over 150m ahead of Bruno Lins, Alex Quinones and Daniel Bailey.

One week later and the Jamaican will head to Poland for the fifth edition of the LOTTO Kamila Skolimowska Memorial, on August 23.

The 27-year-old will conclude next month’s competition schedule at the Zürich leg of the Diamond League series, on August 28.

The six-time Olympic champion and triple world record holder said he was “looking forward” to the Weltklasse meet, adding: “The event is always extremely well organised. The atmosphere at Letzigrund Stadium is unique, and the crowd is world-class.”
