Middle distance racing is back on your screens this weekend, as the British Milers Club (BMC) prepares to host a set of three-lanes-per-race heats in a pilot event in Trafford in Manchester.
The open meeting, the BMC’s first of the summer, will see athletes remain in lanes for the entirety of their 800 metres races as part of a trial that could shape the face of future competitions.
You will be able to watch the action live from Trafford Athletics Club from 1645 on this page of runjumpthrow.com, unless you are based in North America, where coverage is available on RunnerSpace.
The women’s lineups feature world junior finalist Francesca Brint, British Universities’ 1500 metres champion Georgie Hartigan and Emily Thompson, who was last year’s England under-20 champion over the same distance indoors.
On the men’s side, European under-20 1500 metres bronze medallist Joshua Lay is joined by English Schools’ runner-up Ben Lee, a Chicago-based DePaul University student. Also involved is the former England senior champion Max Wharton.
There will also be a pair of sprint races to kick off the meet. They feature Joe Ferguson and Reality Osuoha, who are Great Britain and Republic of Ireland internationals respectively.
