10) Katarina Johnson-Thompson Just missing out on the medals, Katarina scored a huge PB of 6449 and finished 5th in the World Championships, 10 places higher than in the 2012 Olympics. She is definitely one to watch for the future!

9) Sophie Hitchon Coming third at the European Team Championships, Sophie threw 72.97m and smashed her own British Hammer Record by nearly a metre. She then went on to win the European Under 23 Championships less than a month later.

8) James Dasaolu Leaving the stadium absolutely speechless, Dasaolu ran a blistering 9.91 in the 100m semi-final at the British Championships and World Trials, ranking him number 7 in the world this year.

7) Dina Asher-Smith/Desiree Henry Dina Asher-Smith and Desiree Henry had a fantastic European Juniors this year and ran competitively to win the gold, after dominating their qualifying rounds. Asher-Smith went on to be selected for the World Championships Relay Squad.

6) Hannah Cockroft Is there anything this girl can’t do? Cockroft did the double (again!) at the 2013 IPC World Championships in Lyon, winning the T34 100m and 200m.

5) Jess Judd Jess Judd ran a phenomenal race to take the 800m win at the European Team Championships, in her senior international debut. She then went on to qualify for the World Championships in Moscow.

4) Women’s 4×100 The women’s quartet made up of Dina Asher-Smith, Hayley Jones, Asha Philip and Annabelle Lewis won a fantastic bronze at the World Championships after not qualifying a team at the Olympics and having been cut from funding a few years before.

3) Jonnie Peacock In a stacked final including Richard Browne, who had recently broken Peacock’s T44 100m World Record, the IPC World Championships 100m final of the was hugely competitive. Jonnie upped his game and ran a blistering 10.99 to take the gold!

2) Mo Farah Farah did us proud and won double gold in the 5000m and the 10,000m at the World Championships, the second global double in two years.

1) Christine Ohuruogu Winning the World Championship 400m gold for the second time in a nail biting final, beating Amantle Montsho by just 0.004 of a second. If that wasn’t enough, Ohuruogu broke Kathy Cook’s 29 year old British 400m record!
