The first British Athletics League will take place this Sunday in Swansea, Wales and you’ll be able to tune into the live stream of the event. If you do happen to miss the action on Sunday, don’t worry as all videos will be available on demand after the match.

Swansea Harriers host the first BAL match of the season, which is eagerly anticipated by all competing clubs.

The country’s top clubs will battle it out throughout the season to be crowned the nation’s best club. Competing clubs include Birchfield Harriers of Birmingham and Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers of London. Birchfield took the title last year with 31 points, ahead of Shaftesbury Barnet in second and Woodford Green with Essex Ladies in third. Who will it be this year?

The first match of the year in 2018 saw Birchfield secure the top spot, ending the day with 345 points, 27 points clear of City of Sheffield & Dearne AC in second.

Being the most competitive club league in the country, the matches regularly attract big names, with last year’s initial match welcoming Welsh International Owen Smith, who ran a 46.76 over the 400m. Joesph Reid, European Indoor Championships semi-finalist over the 800m, also competed, securing Cardiff AAC maximum points with a modest 1:52.45 clocking.

The matches are never short of young talent either, as British indoor bronze medallist over the 60m, Welshman Jeremiah Azu, also came out on top with a 10.85 100m at the first match of the season in 2018.
