Team Scotland to face Team GB in Glasgow

Team Scotland track and field stars will be back in international action – at the Emirates Arena in January.

Six months after the curtain came down on the Commonwealth Games at Hampden, the Glasgow International will once again take place at the 5000-capacity indoor venue in the city.

And, following the success of the January 2014 event, a ‘Team Scotland’ will compete in the four-nation match, – this time with Team GB and NI, France and Germany in opposition. The January 2014 match was the first time in 20 years of indoor international athletics in Glasgow that Scotland had competed as a team.

It will all take place at the Emirates Arena on Saturday 24 January and scottishathletics members are receiving a 20 percent discount for a ‘pre-sale’ period this weekend.

Team Scotland athletes thrilled the Emirates audience back in January this year when the likes of Chris O’Hare, Laura Muir, Libby Clegg, Stef Reid and Guy Learmonth all enjoyed event wins.

Muir, in fact, set a Scottish indoor 800m record and O’Hare and Learmonth triumphed over GB rivals Charlie Grice and Andrew Osagie respectively. One of the highlights of the fixture was Lynsey Sharp receiving her 2012 European 800m gold medal from European Athletics – via her father Cameron in an emotional medal ceremony. Scottish fans will be hoping Sharp is in action on the track this time.

For younger Scottish athletes, the 2015 event is now another huge moment of opportunity following Glasgow 2014 and will offer a big selection incentive over the coming weeks and the start of the indoor season.

In partnership with British Athletics, scottishathletics members will receive a 20 percent if they take part in a pre-sale period which is open until midnight on Sunday 2 November. This mirrors an offer to accredited club members across Britain for the indoor season.
