Alicia Barrett (above) and Jessica Turner (below) have been added to the Team England athletics squad for the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast. The pair will compete in the 100m and 400m hurdles respectively and replace James Dasaolu and Ashleigh Nelson who have opted to withdraw from the squad.

Barrett and Turner were both selected for the British team at the IAAF World Championships in thanks to promising performances throughout 2017.

19-year-old Barrett, coached by Toni Minichello, also picked up a silver medal at the European under-20 championships. This feat was matched by 22-year-old Turner at the under-23s in Poland. They will both make their Commonwealth Games debuts for Team England in April.

As with previous replacements, the panel invited the next athlete on the reserve list, which was Jonny Mellor. However, due to his initial non-selection the marathon runner has decided to concentrate on the Virgin London Marathon in April.
