Commonwealth Games silver medallist Chris Baillie leads a Scotland Select team packed with teenagers into a University international match on Saturday.
Scottish Universities and Colleges face their Irish counterparts at Grangemouth on Saturday following a visit to Dublin last year.
And scottishathletics have supplied a Scotland Select at the appropriate level to make it a three-team event – with admission free for spectators (12 noon start).
Baillie is the mainexperienced name in the Select lineup which includes Stonehaven schoolgirl, Kelsey Stewart, who represented GB Juniors at Loughborough recently and is a member of the scottishathletics Youth Academy. Baillie, 33, won silver in Melbourne in 2006 and has a coaching role with Helensburgh AAC.
Pole vaulter Anna Gordon and discus thrower Dionne Milne are other Youth Academy ‘pupils’ and the emergent names include the likes of Cameron Tindle, Josh Kerr, Fraser O’Rourke, Ciaran Wright, Annabel Simpson, Alisha Rees and Natalie Robbins.
It is an exciting weekend for the Lawler family – with pole vaulter Hannah included in the Scotland Select while her elder brother, Andrew, represents Scotland in the Karrimor Trail Race in the Lake District on Sunday.
Sprint twins Alec and Kade Thomas from Ronhill Cambuslang are in the 4 x 100m relay squad while Scottish 10,000m champion, Giffnock North’s Luke Traynor, runs in the 5000m.
