What was your first Olympic Games memory?
Sitting with my dad and brother on the sofa watching Linford Christie win in 1992.
What has been the best ever Olympic Games and why?
The best Olympic Games for me were the last London Olympics in 1948. The world was still recovering from one of the worst times in history but people still got behind their nation to support their athletes. Even in a time of rationing and economic turmoil it shows how sport can unite people.
How did you find out London was to host the 2012 Olympics and where were you?
I was sitting in the lounge of my then coach Tom McNab watching the TV with him and my training partner at the time Lucy Boggis and her father.
What are your hopes for London 2012?
I will go into the games like every other competition I enter. To win!
Favourite athletics venue?
Crystal Palace and Oregon.
Do you have any pre-competition superstitions?
No superstitions at the moment. I try to keep a clear head.
Best friend in athletics?
I have a couple… Andrew Steele, Rhys Williams and Steve Lewis.
Pre-competition meal?
Something light like a salad with some protein.
What other sports do you like?
Football, rugby, ice hockey, skiing, skeleton bobsleigh, bobsleigh, badminton, cycling and most others. I can watch and enjoy any sport.
If you were not an athlete what would you like to be?
A historian or some form of history scholar or an archaeologist.
Favourite film?
Anchorman, Lord of the Rings, Pineapple Express.
Favourite TV programme?
Sharpe, Band of Brothers, South Park, Family Guy, Time Team.
Favourite music/group?
House music, dub step, RnB.
Favourite food?
Nando’s extra hot chicken!
Food dislike?
Liver.
Favourite subject at school?
History.
If you could take 3 people out for dinner who would they be?
Will Farrel, Russell Brand and Tony Robinson.
If you were stranded on a desert island what 3 items would you take with you?
A solar powered kitchen, football and sun tan lotion!
Dream date?
Taking the Victoria’s Secret girls out!
Do you have any pets?
I have two chocolate Labradors.
Interesting unknown fact about yourself?
One day I want to be the presenter of a historical show or have my own show involved in history. I also want to try a winter Olympic sport when I feel the time is right.
Do you have a lucky charm?
Not anymore, I used to have a lucky yellow wrist band.
What is in your kit bag when you go out onto the track?
Two pairs of spikes, Maximuscle protein bars, amino matrix drink, super shake, waterproof clothing, sun glasses, towel, spike key and spare safety pins.
Do you have a motivational song? If so, what is it?
Depending on my mood it could be one of a number of songs like Faithless – Insomnia or Wretch 32 – Don’t go.
