British 400m runner Nigel Levine has been suspended by UK Anti-Doping after failing a drugs test.
It comes just over a year after the 28-year-old began his recovery from a motorbike accident that occurred during a training camp in Tenerife.
Levine, who won the 4x400m relay at the 2014 European Championships in Zurich, had been one of the more surprising names on the British Athletics funding programme for this year.
A “prohibited substance” or traces are said to have been present in his tested sample, leading to a “provisional suspension” in complaince with IAAF rules.
In a short statement, UK Athletics said that Levine “now has the opportunity to respond to the charge against him including the right to a full hearing of the case.”
With a lifetime best of 45.11s, Levine has won seven European and World indoor medals. He hasn’t raced competitively since August 2016 because of the accident.
