Each year England Athletics reviews entry standards for our championships to reflect current trends, and ensure appropriate standards and depth of entry for National level competition.
Following review of current entry numbers, there don’t appear to be the numbers anticipated entered in certain age groups. This is likely due to the fact the championships are earlier than normal, so many athletes haven’t had the number of competitions they normally would in order to conquer entry standards.
England Athletics are therefore amending entry standards for the following age groups to encourage a little more depth in terms of entries:
U17
Men: Was 3.80m, now 3.65m
Women: Was 3.40m, now 3.20m
U15
Boys: Was 3m, now 2.90m
Girls: Was 2.80m, now 2.50m
With numbers healthy for U20 men and women, the entry standards will remain as set – 4.40m for U20 men, 3.50m for U20 women.
