Double Olympic, World and European champion Mo Farah has pulled out of this weekend’s Great Edinburgh XCountry international challenge race this weekend due to illness.
Farah was expected to compete as part of Team GB, who are up against the USA and Europe at the event on Saturday in Holyrood Park.
“Unfortunately I have to cancel my participation in the Great Edinburgh XCountry as I had the flu over the Christmas and New Year period and had to take some days off training,” said Farah.
“My main goal for 2015 is the IAAF World T&F Championships in Beijing and I will keep training hard to defend my 5000m and 10,000m titles.”
Farah’s withdrawal however won’t affect the international 4km race which will feature some of Kenya and Ethiopia’s best talent.
The event will be broadcast on BBC One this Saturday between 1300 and 1434. A full timetable for the event can be found here.
