Mo Farah is set to make this summer’s Commonwealth Games that bit more exciting by announcing his intention to compete in Glasgow.

The Olympic gold medallist took to twitter to let his followers know the good news:

“Hi guys! I will be running in the Commonwealth Games this year..!! See you in Glasgow..!! Shabba….!!”

“Haven’t decided which events to compete in: 1500m, 5,000m, 10,000m. Will let you know as soon as I decide.”

Which event he will chose to run in is yet to be decided, but it is likely be the 10,000m due to all his marathon training.

The full line up for Glasgow is yet to be announced, but so far, Farah is the most high profile athlete to announce his inclusion, with Jessica Ennis-Hill and Chris Hoy not competing, and Bolt yet to commit himself.

Glasgow 2014’s chief executive David Grevemberg was pleased with Farah decision:

“We’re delighted to hear Mo Farah express his desire to compete in the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.”

“With around two months to go, we’re making final preparations to create a wonderful sporting stage for elite athletes from across the Commonwealth”

Farah will be competing in his first Commonwealth games since competing in Sydney 2006, where he finished 9th in the 5,000m.

Farah has not made a competitive appearance since finishing 8th in his debut Marathon in London during which he collapsed. Before Glasgow, Farah will run in the Bupa 10,000 later this month.
