On Sunday 19th May, the Paula Radcliffe Athletics Stadium in Loughborough will yet again host the famous Loughborough International Athletics 2019.

A headline event in May, LIA is always a crowd pleaser and this year promises yet again to be a stunning warm up for what is set to be a fantastic summer of athletics.

Last year’s event saw Loughborough University’s Beth Dobbin speed to a lifetime best of 23.14 in the women’s 200 match, which undoubtedly gave her heaps of confidence ahead of the British Championships where she took 200m gold. LIA 2018 was a stepping stone to greater things for the Scottish athlete, and set her up well for a summer season filled with 7 sub-23 performances over the 200m and a 7th place finish at the European Championships in Berlin.

As a home international match, athletes are invited to compete in the guest events or compete for their home nation in the matches, with teams such as; England, Wales, Scotland, Great Britain & Northern Ireland Juniors and Loughborough Students all event regulars. The event will play an important role in many U20/U23’s early season performances, as they’ll be looking to secure places at the European Championships for their age groups in Sweden this July.

Entered for the event already this year is last year’s 200m winner and World Junior 200m silver medallist, Charlie Dobson, as well as World Junior Heptathlon Champion, Niamh Emerson. Be sure to check the entries so far here!

Action is set to begin at 11.15am with the women’s hammer. The first track event will be the women’s guest 400m heats at 11.30am. You’ll be able to follow the action via the dedicated event stream. If you can’t make the event or you miss anything, don’t worry, you’ll be able to re-watch videos via our on demand service.
