The London 2017 Local Organising Committee today announced the competition schedule and ticket prices for the IAAF World Championships and World ParaAthletics Championships which will take place in the Olympic Stadium within Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
Competition schedules for both Championships have been designed to ensure more evening and weekend sessions, allowing more people to attend outside core working hours. Most sessions during the IAAF World Championships include a final and where possible, medal ceremonies have been scheduled together to enhance spectator experience. Every session during the World ParaAthletics Championships include a gold medal event as well as 100m race.
1.5 million tickets will go on sale on 1 August for the Summer of World Athletics – 800,000 for the World ParaAthletics Championships (from 14 – 23 July 2017) and 700,000 for the IAAF World Championships (from 4 – 13 August 2017). Public sales will be held via ballot, with applications opening at 10.00am 1 August and closing at 20.17pm on 22 August 2016. Prior to this there will be a priority sale window for pre-registered members of the athletics family in May and June 2016.
The IAAF World Championships and World ParaAthletics Championships, held in the same city in the same year for the first time ever, will bring together world-class athletes from over 200 countries who will compete in 30 sessions across 20 jam-packed and action-fuelled days. For the IAAF World Championships, there is a wide range of accessible prices for tickets, starting at just £20 for adults with child prices under £10 for every session. Over one third of tickets (250,000) cost £35 or less, with 50% of tickets costing £50 or less. A breakdown of ticket prices can be found at: www.london2017athletics.com/tickets
For the first time ever, there will be athlete-themed ‘World Record’ ticket prices to reflect World Records set by athletes at previous IAAF World Championships. Tickets for one session at one price point will be available for: £12.91 (Colin Jackson’s 110m hurdles), £18.29 (Jonathan Edwards’ triple jump) and £52.74 (Sally Gunnell’s 400m hurdles). All children’s tickets will be priced at £9.58 (Usain Bolt’s 100m).
Tickets for the World ParaAthletics Championships start at just £10 for adults with children’s tickets priced at £5 for every session. Over half of tickets (500,000) cost £20 or less and a family of four can enjoy watching a ParaAthletics gold-medal session for just £30. Members of the public who want to be part of the biggest sporting event held in the Olympic Stadium since the London 2012 Games should register their interest in purchasing tickets on the London 2017 website and stay tuned for the latest updates.
After the ballot closes, people will receive communications regarding which tickets they have been allocated at the end of August 2016. Any unsold tickets will be brought back onto general sale in September 2016.

ParaAthletics’ T37 400m World Champion and world record holder Georgie Hermitage said: “Next summer’s World ParaAthletics Championships are going to be incredible.
