MARATHON WIN FOR MARY

Mary Keitany won her fourth New York City Marathon in 2:22.48 to regain her title. The Kenyan athlete’s time was five-and-a-half minutes off her women’s only marathon world record set in London last year. Lelisa Desisa of Ethiopia won his first title in the men’s race. MUIR PRAISE FROM KELLY HOLMES

Dame Kelly Holmes has described newly-crowned Scottish Athlete of the Year Laura Muir as ‘the world’s best middle-distance runner’ based on her consistency. Double Olympic champion Holmes has no issue with Muir breaking her British records either, saying “records can be there for a such a long time and it suggests that the sports not moving on”. ROAD RELAY REPORT

There was success for Leeds City and Tonbridge in the senior men’s and women’s races at the Saucony ECCA National Road Relays in Mansfield in a strong competition featuring lots of talented youngsters including Emile Cairess, Emily Hosker-Thornhill, Amelia Quirk, Khahisa Mhlanga, Thomas Keen and Rory Leonard. FOUR’S THE DREAM FOR INGEBRIGTSEN

No, we aren’t talking about a fourth Ingebrigtsen brother! Jakob Ingebrigtsen says winning four gold medals at under 20 level is his aim. The Norwegian is to defend his European Cross Country title in the Netherlands next month when the championships take place in Tilburg on 9th December in Tilburg. DUBLIN TO HOST 2020 CROSS COUNTRY

Meanwhile, Ireland has been confirmed by European Athletics as the host of the 2020 European Cross Country Championships. The National Sports Centre Campus in Blanchardstown – an outer suburb of Dublin – is the chosen venue.

GREG ON DEALING WITH GRIEF

The sporting world – and Leicester City FC in particular – mourn the loss of Chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, while players continue to play.

Greg Rutherford has been talking to BBC Sport about dealing with loss and grief. Greg lost his grandfather just before Beijing 2008 and says “it hit me incredibly hard, so I then left for Beijing, to train and get ready for that. But physiologically, it really did affect me and I started doing really odd things during the competition.”

TAXI DRIVER INSPIRES KSZCZOT

Three-time European champion Adam Kszczot says a conversation with a taxi driver inspired him to become one of Poland’s greatest middle-distance runners.
