LONDON MARATHON WILL SEE KIPCHOGE v FARAH

Marathon world record holder Eliud Kipchoge has confirmed his attendance at this year’s London Marathon, alongside Sir Mo Farah. The event will take place on Sunday 28 April this year. We’ve been taking a look at how close the two are on paper.

HEPTATHLON STAR THIAM WON’T DEFEND TITLE

Olympic, world and European heptathlon champion Nafi Thiam won’t be lining up in Glasgow at the European Indoor Championships in March. The Belgian is said to have torn a muscle in her leg during training. Reports in Belgian media say the injury will deprive her of an indoor season and put her out for an estimated six weeks.

SECOND OVERALL FOR BRITS IN STIRLING

Laura Muir claimed a fifth successive relay title in helping the British team to second overall behind Team Europe at the Great Stirling XCountry. Read more and watch back on the BBC iPlayer here.

OGBETA JUMPS NORTHERN CHAMPIONSHIP RECORD

British triple jump champion Naomi Ogbeta managed 13.49m, a Northern Indoor Championships record. Not bad for a season opener – she’s only ever jumped further at two other indoor competitions – both in 2018.

CALLUM HAWKINS RUNS 10K PB AFTER ONE SESSION

Callum Hawkins – who was fourth in the marathon at the World Championships two years ago – ran at 10K PB of 28:55 in Valencia. He claimed it was off the back of one workout session. Results are available here.

SAWYERS TALKS OF MISSING HOME AND HOW SHE SETTLED

WORLD SILVER MEDALLIST LEVCHENKO CLEARS 1.96M

21-year-old high jumper Ukranian Yuliya Levchenko, who was world silver medallist in 2017, cleared 1.96m in Kiev. It backed up the 1.98m she went over last month. This and more from European Athletics.

16-YEAR-OLD AMY HUNT TOP OF UK RANKINGS

Charnwood’s Amy Hunt kept her place at the top of the UK rankings with a 7.41s PB over 60m in Loughborough. Hunt is the reigning England under 17 100m champion(click to watch), but will compete as an under 20 this year.

MCCOLGAN RUNS NEW LIFETIME BEST IN DOHA

Friday night saw Eilish McColgan clock 31:51, her fastest ever 10K in what has been a strong winter so far for the European silver medallist. Her previous best was 31:53 from the same event last January.

DOYLE RUNS FIRST 400 OF 2019

Eilidh Doyle began her campaign to do well on home soil at the Glasgow-based European Indoor Championships with a 53.38s 400m in Glasgow.
