SUCCESSFUL MARATHON DEBUT FOR TWELL
Steph Twell finished eighth in her marathon debut in Valencia. The Scot – who ran 1500m at the Commonwealth Games in April – ran 2:30.12, which is the second-quickest time by a British woman in 2018. You can find results here. There’s more detail in Athletics Weekly.

MCCOLGAN WINS PERCY PUD 10K
Eilish McColgan took victory in the Percy Pud 10K for the third year in a row. The race in the Loxley Valley near Sheffield also saw a course record set by Jack Martin of Stockport, who took victory in a time of 29:13. Read a report on the Steel City Striders website, with full results here.

FULL EUROPEAN CROSS COUNTRY ENTRIES ANNOUNCED
With less than a week until the European Cross Country Championships get underway in Tilburg, a full list of final entries can be viewed on the European Athletics site. They include Jakob Ingebrigtsen, who is going for a hat-trick of under 20 titles. Similarly, Yasemin Can is hoping to win the senior women’s race for the third time in a row.
BBC TO SHOW EURO XC LIVE

DASAOLU RAISING FUNDS FOR SURGERY
GB sprinter James Dasaolu has so far raised £9,000 for “urgent surgery” after asking for public help to get his career back in track in time for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

POZZI TO RETURN TO SCENE OF GREATEST TRIUMP
Andrew Pozzi is looking forward to coming back to the Birmingham Arena for the Müller Indoor Grand Prix on 16th February. The 26-year-old won world indoor gold there in March and says it was the “highlight of (his) career”. Read his full preview.
EUROPEAN INDOOR PERMITS SPREAD ACROSS THE CONTINENT
European Athletics has also announced that indoor permit meetings will be staged across the continent, from Iceland to Turkey and Sweden to Serbia. They are all happening in January and February before the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow at the beginning of March.
