Jessica Ennis-Hill urges fans to bid for Glasgow now

With just under three days remaining to apply for Glasgow tickets, golden girl Jessica Ennis-Hill has urged fans to bid while they can.

The deadline for applications is 6pm on Monday, September 16, but with extremely high website traffic expected on the last day, this weekend is a great chance to make final bids.

Ennis-Hill is one of the ambassadors for the 2014 Games, and will hope to turn her 2006 Commonwealth bronze into gold this time round.

The heptathlete said: “I am really excited about the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Having a major championship in Britain so soon after the Olympics is brilliant, and to have the support of a crowd made up of all the Home Nations will really help us athletes achieve our best again.

“Don’t put it off or wait until the final bell – apply for tickets this weekend and be part of something truly amazing.”

Track and field has already had substantially more ticket requests than seats available at most sessions, and has been classed as an extremely popular event on the Glasgow website.

In sports where demand exceeds availability, tickets will be allocated through a simple and fair draw process – athletics being one of these.

Ennis-Hill added: “I will never forget the roar of the crowd in London and hope that everyone goes out to buy tickets to add their support for us all once again. My goal is to add the Commonwealth gold medal to my Olympic, World and European ones – the full set would be amazing.”

Ty Speer, Deputy Chief Executive of Glasgow 2014, advised: “Avoid the final dash for tickets and the likely queues on our website and apply as soon as possible, and before Monday, when we expect demand to reach its absolute peak.”

Ticket applications can be made at www.glasgow2014.com/tickets.
