Pole vault world record holder Renaud Lavillenie has married his longtime partner Anais Poumarat at a ceremony in his native France. The Digital Journal reports that the 2012 Olympic champion, who added a third IAAF World Indoor title to his collection this year, has been with his new wife for 11 years.

Veteran European silver medalist Chris Thompson managed a gun-to-tape victory in the Great Scottish Run in Glasgow on Sunday. The 37-year-old Brit, who is preparing for the New York Marathon, won over the half marathon distance in 62:07. See an official round-up of results here.

A new Indian record of 8.20m was set by Sreeshankar Murali in the long jump at his country’s national championships. Murali had been set for the Gold Coast earlier this year, but had to pull out at the last minute due to appendix surgery. He does however go 15th on the Commonwealth all-time list, as The Times of India reports.
Another athlete who unfortunately missed out on competing in Australia in April was Dewi Griffiths. The Welshman is looking forward to taking part in this weekend’s Commonwealth Half Marathon Championships on home soil in Cardiff this weekend, proclaiming “this is my Commonwealth Games” on the event’s Twitter feed as you can watch below.
Meanwhile, Griffiths, along with Melissa Courtney, Bethan Davies and Ieuan Thomas were among the top names to scoop awards at the Welsh Athletics’ annual awards ceremony (via Dai Sport).

Finally, New York-based indoor track The Armory has released a video montage showing the finer details of relaying a brand new Mondo track surface as the venue prepares for the upcoming season. The arena has a rich history, having been built in 1909 to house units of the state’s volunteer militia and was repurposed in the 1980s as a homeless shelter.
