The tech company’s new building will accommodate roughly 5,000 workers and is scheduled to open in 2015. Google’s “groundscraper” will only be up to 11 storeys high but at 330 metres in length it will be as long as the Shard is tall. In addition to the running track and pool, it will also house “wellness” facilities and a multi-use-games-area.

However, Google’s announcement is eclipsed by the proposed rooftop track at the New Balance headquarters in Brighton, Massachusetts (pictured bottom left) in 2017. The building may feature a full 400 metre track on its roof as well as an indoor sport arena featuring a 200 metre track. New Balance’s director of real estate has stated that you will be able to “run around and look at the traffic jams on the Mass Pike”.

Nike’s corporate headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon, is famous for its outdoor track that features trees in the infield (pictured bottom right). Get your visas and applications in quickly though, neither the Nike nor New Balance facilities will be open to the general public.
