The annual Night of the 10,000m PBs incorporates not only both British & English National Championships but also the GB trials for three major championships.
Race organiser Ben Pochee says ‘Our goal when creating this volunteer event was to provide a trusted annual platform for aspiring 10,000m runners to race each towards PB times. And last year whilst Jo Pavey & Andy Vernon stole the show, athletes like Rhona Auckland and Matty Hynes achieved GB vest winning breakthrough runs, and in 2015 we want more Rhona & Matty success stories’.
Pochee went on to say ‘And I’m chuffed to bits by the quality of younger domestic talent we already have entered, it’s not rocket science that if you can attract the best guys to race together you tend to end up with PB sparks flying and that’s good for the athletes, GB development and of course our lane 3 spectators’.
Current GB U23 talent includes Rhona Auckland, Jonathan Davies, Jenny Nesbitt & Matty Shirling and the current start list can be found here – https://highgate.athletics-uk.org/
As well as incorporating British & English National Championships Highgate Harriers Night of the 10,000m PBs will be the trials for the European Cup, U23 European Championships & U20 European Championships.
