The England Athletics U15 & U17 Championships are in Bedford this weekend and you can watch them live on this page of runjumpthrow.com.
The action begins at 10:30 BST on Saturday and 10:20 BST on Sunday, with coverage also viewable on runnerspace.com in North America.
A number of European U18 champions are expected to line up including Max Burgin and Dominic Ogbechie. Both have set age world bests for 15-year-olds this year. You may remember Max running 1:47.50 at the BMC Sportcity Grand Prix in Manchester in May (below).
Burgin has entered the 800m in which he ran 1:47.36 to take gold in Hungary last month, as well as the 1500m, where he’ll face Scottish runner Kane Elliott, who beat his competition over the longer distance at the same event.
Dominic Ogbechie, who cleared 2.22m in the high jump at the indoor championships in February (below), is entered to add outdoor gold to both the high jump and long jump titles he won there.
A best long jump of 7.53m puts him in the hot seat to do so, while the Highgate athlete has also cleared 2.16m outdoors this year to take the England U20 title.
On a similar note, 16-year-old Keely Hodgkinson has impressed this year competing as an U20 athlete and winning the national title by beating older, more experienced athletes with huge talent such as Isabelle Boffey, Katy Ann McDonald and Khahisa Mhlanga. In the process, Hodgkinson has smashed her personal record, running 2:04.26 in 2018 and is the pick of the bunch over two laps.
Meanwhile, fellow European U18 gold medal winner Raphael Bouju is one of the favourites in the 100m. The sprinter, who represents the Netherlands internationally, has run 10.61 which is the fastest clocking in the field this year.
Bouju won the English Schools title in Birmingham in July and is one of a number of gold medal winners from the Alexander Stadium featuring again – not least Kiah Dubarry-Gay – who ran a 23.90 PB into a -1.3 m/s wind, suggesting there is plenty more to come.
