Canadian 400m runner Daundre Barnaby sadly passed away whilst in a training camp with fellow athletes. The accident occurred as Barnaby was dragged out to sea by a current whilst relaxing on the Caribbean island of St Kitts.
The Glasgow Commonwealth games semi-finalist was an incredibly talented athlete full of potential, with a personal best of 45.47 the future looked incredibily bright for the young Jamaican-born.
Tributes have been paid by Athletics Canada chief exectuive Rob Guy, who described the former Mississipi state athlete as “an outstanding athlete and an even better young man”.
Toronto FC midfielder Jonathan Osorio also paid his respects on Twitter earlier today.
Sad to hear the news about Brampton native and Canadian track athlete Daundre Barnaby. May God be with his family and friends at this time üôè
