In an interview with EME News, Blanka Vlašiƒá has confirmed her intention to return to competition in Sopot at the 2014 IAAF World Indoor Championships.
Following the completion of treatments on an ongoing Achilles injury she has now returned to training and hopes to open her season on the 15th February in Goteborg, Sweden.
“I’m looking forward to compete again, but there is still a lot of hard work to be done. I’m confident and ready for challenges that are ahead of me” she said via press release.
Vlašiƒá decided to undergo surgery on her injured Achilles tendon in January 2012, which following an infection had to be operated on again in April 2012. The slow healing process of the injury forced the 2011 IAAF World Outdoor Championship silver medallist to withdraw from London 2012.
The former world champion also suffered an interrupted 2013 as she struggled with the stabilisation of her ankle. You can watch her interview with Inside Athletics below in which she discusses comeback from injury and her upbringing.
