International medalists Christophe Lemaitre and Mujinga Kambundji delivered headline performances as part of a great AtletiCAGenève competition in the Swiss sunshine. You can catch up on the action here on runjumpthrow.com.

Lemaitre – an Olympic, World and European medalist for France – held off Great Britain’s Ojie Edoburun to bring his country’s 4x100m quartet home in first in the relay at the start of the day, before running 20.35 in the 200m later in the meet, beating Stuart Dutamby, Robin Vanderbemden and Eseosa Desalu.

His warm welcome at the Stade du Bout-du-Monde was perhaps only bettered by the reception that greeted the reigning European and world indoor bronze medalist Mujinga Kambundji. The sprinter, from Uetendorf in Switzerland ran an impressive 11.16 seasons best. Check out the race below and find results here.

Kambundji was followed home by Orlann Ombissa of France and Daryll Neita of Great Britain, who ran 11.26 and 11.29 respectively.

Great Britain’s Feron Sayers managed a huge personal best of 8.05m in the men’s long jump. Not only was it his first time over eight metres, but a European qualifying standard, which saw him quite literally leap to the number one spot ahead of Tim Duckworth and Dan Bramble in the 2018 British rankings. The women’s 200m was a fabulous event overall. Jodie Williams ran 22.75, her fastest time since the Rio 2016 Olympic Games in Race 1. She was closely followed home by Bianca Williams in 22.8 and Swiss home favourite Sarah Atcho, who set a lifetime best of 22.85.

What followed in subsequent races included a lifetime best of 22.94 for Ashleigh Nelson and Ireland’s Phil Healy running 23.17, close to the 23.02 Irish national record held by Sarah Reilly.

Sticking with sprints, the first men’s 100m was an incredibly close tussle but ultimately, France came away with the sprint double as Mouhamadou Fall was given the win ahead of Xie Zhenye of China in 10.25.

Elsewhere the versatile Mari Smith continued to go from strength to strength in establishing herself over two laps with another win in the first of the women’s 800m races.
