Australian teen sensation James Gallaugher has bettered the age group world best for the 200m that was previously held by none other than Usain Bolt.
The young sprinter won the U14 Australian National Championships in a blistering time of 21.73. That’s 0.08 faster than the 200m world record holder was able to run at age 14.
Officials in the country are working tirelessly to downplay Gallaugher’s performance, but as he continues to churn out such impressive times it’ll be difficult to keep the young man out of the spotlight.
Gallaugher has been targeted by at least one National Rugby League club but has previously indicated that his preference would be to remain in track and field.
He certainly is an exciting prospect for the future and has already been tipped by officials to make the Australian for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
