What a week it’s been in Munich. The golden hosts dominated the podium, there were tears, bandages, smashed records and some very compassionate moments.
And of course a fabulous friendly furry friend called Gfreidi.
Sizzling Sunday ended a stunning seven days in fine fashion as Germany’s girls stormed to their seventh gold in the 4x100m relay.
Greece’s Antigoni Ntrismpioti was the race walk queen, Dutch superstar Femke Bol made it a golden 400m hat-trick and steeplechaser Luiza Gega made history with Albania’s first ever European outdoors medal.
Armand Duplantis was Saturday’s superstar with a high jump championship record, emotions were high as Ukraine secured two golds and who will forget Germany’s Arthur Abele’s auf wiedersehen after his decathlon heroics.
Munich has put on a magical show. Danke danke danke! Bring on Rome in 2024.
