In the final event of day six at Munich 2022, the women’s 3,000m Steeplechase final drew the complete attention of the crowd.
The incredible final was dominated by Albania’s Luiza Gega, who led for the vast majority of the contest. The fans rose to their feet as she secured victory and burst with emotion upon realising her gold medal dream.
Gega’s achievement was Albania’s first European title outdoors, setting a championship record time of 9:11.31!
