2012 was a monumental year for Renaud Lavillenie. Weeks before winning pole vault Olympic gold in London 2012, he retained his European title in Helsinki.
The French vaulting sensation won his maiden European Athletics Championship title in 2010, and by 2012, he had become an even more formidable athlete.
His improvement was evident in his winning height in the Finnish capital – in 2010, his winning clearance was 5.85m. In 2012 his winning clearance was 12 centimetres higher – 5.97m!
The crowd in attendance were in awe of Renaud’s power and precision, and you can enjoy it too – with these highlights as the road to Munich 2022 progresses.
