The Role
Interested in a career in broadcasting?
Vision Mixers are the heartbeat of our live streams, controlling the programme feed as the action happens and choosing the image that goes out to people watching.
You will play an important role in a dedicated production team at track and field meetings across the UK and Europe. On the day you will be responsible for running a significant part of the broadcast, selecting live camera feeds, putting graphics on the screen, and monitoring audio levels. You will be expected to pass instructions to others in a busy, live environment.
You will be required to assist with setup and de-rigging before and after the event and will need to be conscious of health and safety at all times.
Key Skills
It is not essential to have prior experience, as we are able to train you. However, it is important to have a good understanding of what would make a good image for an athletics live stream.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills are vital. You will need to be confident building working relationships quickly and giving instructions during the broadcast.
Naturally, effective vision mixing demands high levels of concentration at all times and the ability to react in changing situations.
If your knowledge is advanced, you may be expected to provide creative solutions to technical problems. We also require sufficient hearing, colour vision and co-ordination for effective operation. Strong knowledge of computers is preferred.
